Hawaii Pacific Solar is a joint venture partner in South Maui Renewable Resources (SMRR) and has teamed with Power Engineers, Pratt & Whitney, Cummins and SkyFuel for the design, engineering and development of a hybrid renewable energy system. This is concentrated solar power with a bio-diesel generator hybrid system. The first facility is planned for a 35 acre site in South Maui with a total energy production of 2.85 megawatts of Firm power.

SMRR members sit on the Reliability Standards Working Group established by the Public Utilities Commission to assist in determining technical standards for large scale photovoltaic projects.
