In the 2013-14 school year, HPS awarded a grant for an aquaponics program at Aiea High School that would help teach students about sustainability and energy. It was a challenging project, large and labor intensive. Teacher Jamie Macadang has been an amazing leader on this project, and these picture show green results!
Aiea High School culinary arts students are now harvesting Manoa lettuce that they will use to prepare salads that will be sold to faculty and staff. The next crop will include tomatoes, soy beans, bell peppers, and green onions.
Can we say yum!!
