Hawaii Pacific Solar, along with its partner Haleakala Energy Associates, led the development efforts for the first two solar farms on Maui. These projects set a new bar for lower renewable energy rates in Hawaii at 11.06ยข/kwh, fixed for 20 years. HPS was actively involved in securing the land needed for the farms, negotiating the power purchase agreements with Maui Electric, obtaining PUC approval of the PPAs and obtaining the funding required for the projects. HPS also addressed entitlement requirements, such as the interconnection easements, and helped obtain building permits from the County for both projects.
